Hoàn Kiếm Lake – The Heart of Hanoi
Located in the centre of Hanoi, Hoàn Kiếm Lake is much more than a scenic attraction.
The lake is closely linked to one of Vietnam’s most famous legends. According to local folklore, Emperor Lê Lợi returned a magical sword to a sacred golden turtle after successfully defending Vietnam from foreign invaders. This legend gave the lake its name, which translates to “Lake of the Returned Sword.”
